Thank you — I will give this one a full analysis. At first glance, I see some significant problems. It launched with nine, broad journals. They even launched without ISSNs. Everything was quickly created with a template, and this shows that you can create a new scholarly publisher is about a day, and immediately start collecting money from researchers.

I think that a convincing rebuttal of Mr. Beall’s evaluation must start with making available the (anonymized & full-text) peer reviews for, let’s say, all articles published in the last 3 issues.

I’ve seen something similar at http://www.sciencedomain.org , where the first published reviews under the “peer review history” seems genuine and (most of the times) written by experts who were able to make substantial comments and critiques. However, it is still dubious whether final acceptance decisions was made based on the expert’s comment or not, or if the company tried to “balance” negative expert peer evaluations with positive non-expert or even “fake” reviews or not. Maybe its worth to reevaluate this publisher sometimes in the future.

(disc. I’m not affiliated with sciencedomain or any of its journals)

I do not think this list is about open access but predatory open access journals. Open access is here to stay, develop and ultimately prevail.Dr. Beall’s list pinpoint those who hide behind false informations to charge fees , “publish” articles ,spread “science” etc….. Dr. Beall’s is doing a great job to uncover all the shenanigans these “publishers ” are up to. Unless you are a publisher , you do not seem to have understand the reason he’s is doing this job .

Thank you so much. I am sorry, I wasn’t aware of the name, and I found it now in your list.
Sure, I’ll not throw my paper in such journal, but I wondered how could they have DOI for their publications or even ISSNs for all of those journals if they don’t have real publishers? Could anybody do that easily?
Thank you
Mustafa

Oh, yes. Standard numbers such as the ISSN and DOIs are often given out without regard for quality.

We (a large FP7 project) were recently approached by euresearcher magazine, apparently published by Blazon Publishing and Media Ltd in the UK, which seems to be operating in similar territory.

Well it seems quite a few people in underdeveloped countries suffer from minority complex. Simply having a publisher registered in a developed country makes it a lot easier to handle cases like plagiarism (including name plagiarism), IP debates, suspicion of fraudulent data etc. Most of the OA journals in Nigeria or Panama accept anything for the right fee.
I knew a former (western) editor of an OA journal, who tried to keep his journal clean of junk: the result was that the publisher assigned a number of co-editors, who accepted everything to get their share of the publication fee (way of encouragement). The level sunk, so that “Hey, I found this piece of stone in the hills and had a look at it in the microscope”. Its simply about strict quality control and making editors non-interested in publishing everything. It would have been fine if they would introduce a new category instead of articles, namely “Lab notes”.

With regards to predatory conferences, I’m wondering if the conferences hosted by the organisation named Inter-Disciplinary.Net in the UK may be dubious:
http://www.inter-disciplinary.net/critical-issues/ethos/space-and-place/
http://www.inter-disciplinary.net/critical-issues/ethos/space-and-place/call-for-papers/

Each participant is expected to pay £297 for the attendance in the conference, which is nowhere mentioned in the call for papers.

They do a whole host of other activities as well, including publishing (under Inter-Disciplinary Press). Perhaps you can take a look into them?

The Scientific World Journal is not on my list. It is not a predatory journal. The Indian Journal of Scientific Research is indeed on my list. It is a questionable journal, and I recommend that you NOT submit any papers to it. Good luck.

[…] The predatory nature of your solicitations for scholarly submissions makes me question the reliability of your journal. I dare say the true motivation underlying your actions is evident in the paragraph in your e-mail below that draws reference to the charges related to publication. My fears are further heightened by the fact that your journal appears on several lists of questionable journals, such as this one devoted to looking at all things related to scholarly open access.
