Sir,
I would like to know if you have any idea regarding impact factor by SJIF. International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR) claims to have an sjif impact factor of 3.358. Is this legit? My paper has been accepted by IJSR and another by International Journal of Engineering Research and Technology. Are either of these scams?

Dear prof. Muthuprasanna as your journal is open access; but why your journal have not includes the e-mail of corresponding authors in PDF file of manuscript, which is one of the essential criteria for indexing in NAAS, PubMed, SCI etc.

e-mail of corresponding authors are still missing in your latest issues (September. 2014).

That’s a fake impact factor. I recommend finding a better journal to publish in. If they’re lying about their impact factor, they’re probably lying about other things as well.

in the email the invitation is for “International Journal of Stem Cell Research & Therapy” and it is signed by Allison Zoey, Editorial office, “International Journal of Diabetes and Clinical Research”.

What happened to people at International Journal of Stem Cell Research & Therapy? Too busy to send invitations?

Open access publishing has made a mockery of scholars.

Fraudception. Amazing, I have to give credit for the idea of blackmailing predatory publishers. Let’s give them a taste of their own medicine.

There’s a journal with this title published by a firm called LifeScience Global. This publisher is included on my list, so I would recommend that you find a better publisher.

The language gaffes are not at all surprising. After all, according the US government, 11% of Delaware inhabitants 16 years or older lack basic prose literary skills. Apparently, they managed to employ one of them! See: http://nces.ed.gov/naal/estimates/stateestimates.aspx

By the way, how do you explain the well populated and clearly identified editorial boards, with several US members. Apparently, they have not been put off by the language skills. One must be tolerant of the less privileged employees.

We have contacted researchers in our institution who have published with these publishers/journals or who have submitted papers already to alert them to the fact that they should be cautious and maybe consider alternative journals/publishers. Some react quite strongly as you may expect. Is it correct that in fact publishers who find themselves on the list can send you a mail and ask what issues are incorrect in their specific case so that they can remedy these and be removed from the list?

There is an appeal process in place. Most of the publishers are on the list because they are deceptive, lack transparency in their operations, or do not adhere to established scholarly publishing standards. I do not provide consulting services to publishers; it is their responsibility to know how to operate a professional, transparent, and standards-adhering operation. Most of the publishers on my list aim to make easy money by ripping off researchers. I invite you to analyze them yourself.

Jeffrey, you are welcome to give publishers who appear to want to learn, especially those in India, my contact info, because I DO provide consulting services to legitimate publishers who need help. I spent more than 2 years working in India in order to find out what it is they need to learn. I’m an editor myself, a member of COPE, and am currently engaged in PhD research on errors in use of sources in second language writing.
