Dear advisors and fools like me,

Thanks for this blog- I would have driven crazy without it.

I have fallen for their stupid e-mail as well and send in a very bad draft of my first paper (unexperienced, naive and stupid as I have been). But already during the review I withdraw my paper- of course I have never gotten any response.
Now like many of you I received this acceptance letter and the bill.
I again withdraw my paper in various mails. No response. Now finally I wrote another mail, intercepting any publication (I do not suppose they will as I have not and will not pay anything).

As I am from Germany I cannot contact the FBI I think- but maybe we could set up a letter, entailing some legal auhtors rights and so on- which all people affected could send to the editor to prevent any publication and/or demand notes.

Here is what I have written:
Dear Mr. Ullah,

after not having received any response from you yet. I once again want to clearly state that I have already withdrawn my article “Banking transition: An empirical approach on the transformation of a centrally planned banking system” Manuscript ID: EDS-1169 from the reviewing process on February 18th, 2015.

Not only have I withdrawn this paper from review, the paper also does not exist any longer, due to extensive editing. In line I therefore interdict any publication of this article both, online and in any printed version. Moreover I will not pay any amount of money, as I do not want this paper to be published.

If I will not receive a confirmation of my withdrawal within the next two days, mutual agreement of my withdraw is assumed. As you do not have any rights on my intellectual property and all correspondence is documented, any kind of publication of the article concerned is legally inadmissible.

Best wishes,
…..

This is a paper mill company. It is totally bogus, and I recommend that you avoid it. They will take your money and your paper and publish it in a low quality journal somewhere.

Hi everyone
How I can withdraw my article from this journal. please anyone have an idea how to do it.

It is very difficult to withdraw articles from OMICS Group journals because this publisher does not behave ethically. Their strategy is to hold your article “hostage” until you pay. First, you must tell them clearly that you want to withdraw your article, so send them an email saying this. Save a copy of the email. They will try to pressure you to pay.

Liya,
I strongly advise that you not use the services of the company Research Publication. Some call this a “paper mill,” that is, a company that helps authors gets easy publications. Please stay away from this company. Good luck.

1. http://www.library.georgetown.edu/newjour/publication/european-international-journal-applied-science-and-technology

This journal has changed its title to European International Journal of Science and Technology, and it is published by the Center for Enhancing Knowledge, UK, and I have this journal on my list. I recommend against this journal.

2. http://www.ijirts.org/

I have not heard of this journal before, so I will analyze it as soon as I can, but in the meantime, I recommend that you not submit any papers to this journal.

3. https://www.waset.org/journal/Biological

This journal is published by WASET, the so-called World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology, and this is a very dangerous publisher and conference organizer, so I recommend that you avoid this company completely.

4. http://urpjournals.com/journals.php?journalID=27

This journal is from the publisher called Universal Research Publications. I have this publisher on my list, and I universally recommend that all scholars not submit any papers to its many journals.

I am an Iranian researcher in applied linguistics. I am really sorry to hear that the price of knowledge and science in my country is under the appropriate level. I admit that we made big mistakes regarding the matter of scientific papers. However, Please never judge us by those frauds like this company. when I read your comments about my country and my people, I was really ashamed and angry. Be honest, I never plagiarize and never translate. I guarantee We will change our policy. In near future, we throw low value article from our system. please be patient and don’t consider these base men as the whole range of researchers in Iran.
I want to use offensive words for these people who are not researcher. I doubt whether they are human and understand that what they do is against national and international law

I am wondering what can be done in these cases of predatory and fake journals.. As Thomson Institute seems to have the highest authority in the filed of publications, maybe it should take some actions.
Also Scopus and other (publication) database sites to refuse to enlist these journals.

This starts to frighten me…

I had a quick on look on the Editorial Board of the “second” website (starts with vol. 5 in 2001;http://www.cmnt.lv). I checked the names and institutes for the 2 German editors mentioned on this website. From the internet information of their affiliations both are obviously respected scientists.

Interestingly one of those persons listed as “editors” published the very first article (in volume 1 on 1996) in the Journal of the other, “first” (legitimate?) website:

Also some other names on the second website Editorial Board are author names from articles that appeared in the other journal…

Are the names for the second Editorial Board then just copy and paste from the authors list of the second, other journal? This would mean: If someone hijacks a well respected journal where you are an author you might end as an editor of a predatory journal one day.

Without your knowledge and and no realistic possibility to get your name deleted…

Totally insane.

Mr Hobbes

I have a question to those more experienced than I am. Recently I’ve submitted a paper for publication to one of their journals, I haven’t received any review yet, in the meantime I informed them that I don’t want them to consider my contribution for publication. I haven’t signed any copyright contract; nor have I paid the publication fee. I’m wondering if I can submit my paper for publication to another journal.
I would very much appreciate advice.

I recommend that you email the publisher and tell them you want to withdraw your submission. Ask them to confirm that the submission is withdrawn, and save the email they send you. After you have an acknowledgement that the submission is withdrawn, then I think it’s okay to submit it to another journal.

I imagine that the *real* Yuri Shunin would use one of his academic e-addresses, rather than work through this "inbox.lv" Yahoo clone.

I have not analyzed this conference. GSTF does have an association with Springer; I think it’s called Global Science Journals. I’ve always found GSTF to be an aggressive and arrogant company. I do personally advise people to avoid GSTF and think there are publishers and conference organizers that treat researchers much better than they do. I think your worries are justified. I would recommend finding a scholarly-association sponsored language, literature, and linguistics conference rather than this corporate one.
