That spam letter appears to have been made using much the same template as the infamous Nigerian 419 scams, Engrish and all.

How about “European Scientific Journal”? Seems not only predatory but also severely crank.

I agree. I have this journals included on my standalone journal list <a href="http://scholarlyoa.com/individual-journals/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">here</a>. Thank you.

I would leave the article published in the journal and not worry about it. It is too much trouble to remove an article from one journal and get it published in another journal. Instead, I recommend that you write a completely new article and submit it to a respected journal.

A Google search for the press retrieves this site, but it isn’t really a publisher’s website.

It seems to be a website offering *everything* — “visa application, immigration processing, college application”.

Google also directs us to the site http://www.bauhauscg.com, the “Bauhaus Creative Group”, which offers “cultural planning; education and training; patent agent; trademark registration; industrial product design; creative design; indoor and outdoor equipment repair” — evidently they never saw a scam that they didn’t want to join. With the ‘Science press” as one particular activity —
http://www.bauhauscg.com/cn/menu_69/102.htm

That page links to the ‘bhssci’ website, which as you say is now defunct, but Google Cache gives us this —
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:LAPOp_U4jP4J:www.bhssci.com/our-journals/703.html+&cd=8&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=nz&client=firefox-a

— so they did dabble with a few predatory journals, before perhaps finding it insufficiently lucrative.

Sir I would like to know why IOSR journal (International organisation of scientific research) is on your list? Sir can we send our manuscript published in this journal to some other indexed journal?

A key to me is the use of “esteemed” in the solicitation. Has anyone seen “esteemed” used in a legitimate invite?

It's a very low-quality publisher that pretends to be "International" but really isn't. Even its journal titles have grammatical errors: <em>IOSR Journal of Research & Method in Education</em>.

Comment on Mexican OA Journal Demands a “Mordida” from Authors Submitting Manuscripts by Reinaldo Pire

Dear Prof. Beall, it is clear that your comment was dealing with fees that were not mentioned on the website of the journal. However, you used the term “mordida”, a word that may be considered offensive for Spanish speaking people.
I believe that this unusual word in scientific communication triggered several opinions from readers who added more attacks to the journal.
Moreover, I visited the journal website and observed that the charges are mentioned on its main page.
Knowing that you are a fair scientific critic, I think a clarification would be needed

You are late to the party. The charges were not stated previously. My use of the term was appropriate and reflected only the offensiveness of the hidden and exploitative charges.

This isn't a hijacking, but it's a low quality journal, and I have it listed <a href="http://scholarlyoa.com/individual-journals/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

It is very difficult to withdraw an article from a low-quality journal and then get it accepted at a better journal. In my opinion, in many cases it’s better to just leave the article there, use it as a learning experience, and then write a new and better article and submit it to a quality journal.

Dr Jeffrey Beall,
I need your opinion on this open access journal : veterinaryworld (http://www.veterinaryworld.org/). They are declaring on their website that they have an IF of 0.891, but they didn’t mention how IF has been calculated.
Is it a predatory publisher also ??
