Comment on Questionable OA Publisher Launches with a Clever Website and 52 New Journals by ET

Dear Colleagues, I just saw this web site and I am having a big shock. Everything seemed ok – as a naive person I even sent the $…They originally indicated that the online publication would be on April 30. Since I did not see it on time, I started to get suspicious and here I am! Please tell me what to do – I have the Western Union transfer information – what can I do? I want these people to be punished – I know money is gone – but I want to take legal action!

I find this journal to be borderline. Its prominent display of a fake metric (“Universal Impact Factor – 0.8901″) is troubling. However, I don’t think that, viewed holistically, the journal meets the criteria for being added to my list. I will monitor this journal. There are many good veterinary journals, including good OA ones. You might want to consider finding a stronger one than this.

I recommend that you avoid the Dove Press journals. I recently added Dove Press to my list.

There are several different journals with this title ... but if you mean the one published by a company called The Global Journals, then I strongly recommend that you not send any papers to it.

Dear sir,
if the journal is listed in DOAJ, can i treat it as authentic journal?

This is the International Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), and I think it is a very low quality and possibly predatory journal, and I recommend that you stay away from it.

No, not automatically. There are some predatory journals included in DOAJ, and some journals supply false information to DOAJ (such as information about author fees). Proceed with caution.

Journal of Theoretical and Applied Information Technology

I recommend against submitting papers to this journal. I realize it is indexed by Scopus and others, but I think they are making a mistake. I would not be surprised if the indexers that include this journal dump it in the future. Therefore, publishing in this journal because of its database status is risky. Find a better journal.

It’s changed. Now it’s either free or $70 (depending on the “journal”) through July 11, then it goes back up to $300 for developed countries and $200 for undeveloped countries. There is a $20 surcharge for anyone stupid enough to use wire transfer. They accept Paypal which might be a way to shut them down. I’ve done that before with an air-nursery.

The first one is not on my list at this time. It may be a borderline journal, and you probably want to consider finding a stronger journal.
I have not analyzed the second one (and cannot, for it is in Turkish). Best wishes.
