Hello,
will you be meeting the announced person – declining the tea?

I would be interested tohear whether there would be any more “offers” to “resolve the problem together”.

I recommend that researchers avoid all the CCSE journals. This publisher is included on my list.

The Research Journal of Medicinal Plant is published by Academic Journals, Inc. This publisher is based in Pakistan but [falsely] claims it's based in New York. The journal's title is not grammatically correct in English (unless it is a journal about one plant). It should say Medicinal Plants. In my opinion, researchers should avoid all the journals from Academic Journals, Inc. It's just another easy publisher that accepts almost all papers submitted and is un-selective just to make money.

I have analyzed this journal already.
It is not on my list. I do not think it meets the criteria.

I have not analyzed this conference. I do not have an opinion. It may be legitimate. It may be only for making easy profit.

Dear Jeffrey,

What kind of meter you used to analyse the jemds.com because they claim fast review, do not have ethic statement, no preservation policy etc..in similar cases you used the above criteria for including publishers and journals in your list..
Thanks

Thank you for alerting me to this journal. It is published by a bogus organization called Techno Science Academy. The publish two journals, this one and another equally worthless one. I have added the publisher to my list.

Jeffrey–you do great work and thank you for all that you do. Have you ever analyzed the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences publisher, and its related journals? There is an annual conference run in the basement of a seedy hotel in Las Vegas, and it definitely seems like a pay-to-publish scheme. Do you think the journals are predatory?

Correct, so you should tell Scopus that they are making a horrible mistake.

Yes. In my analyses, I found it to be borderline and could not make a strong case for adding it to the list.
If you think it deserves to be included on the list, I would be very happy to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks.

Jeffrey,

Thank you. Here are some points for consideration for inclusion on your list:

1) Pay-per-page published
2) Same editor-in-chief for all journals from the ASBBS publisher
3) Lack of independence for editorial board, significant overlap of editors amongst the journals
4) Discussion of review process does not indicate that may not be a rigorous process
5) Attendance at conference seems to ensure publication
6) Location of conference limits active participation at sessions

Would love to know your thoughts. Thanks again.

Thank you for your nasty reply. If you can not afford the review process and publication fees of ASIA LIFE SCIENCES, then it would be prudent to just simply withdraw your submission and look for a more preferred journal for your paper. You do not have any right to make any threat to the publication integrity of ASIA LIFE SCIENCES. YOU DUMMY!

Subject: FRAUD: Withdraw: Fees query: Asia Life Sciences: submission

Dear Dr. Gruezo,

It is a shame that, for over 18 months, you and your publisher continue to mislead the academic community with misleading statements regarding the actual publication fees.

When I submitted a manuscript in early 2014, there were no fees, yet you claimed that the fees were 100 US$ + 3000 US$. Even today, 18 months after my withdrawal, your web-site still misleads the public, stating:
“To defray the cost of publication, author(s) of accepted manuscripts would be requested to pay a publication fee, the exact amount of which will be determined on or before printing time. Author(s) will be informed of this publication fee through notice of acceptance of their manuscripts.”

Why is the precise fee not written?
Why is it different for different scientists?

And where is the editor board which has not existed for at least 18 months?
http://journals.uplb.edu.ph/index.php/ALS/about/editorialTeam

Given these serious issues, I have decided to formally report your activities to Jeffrey Beall at http://www.scholarlyoa.com and, if no change is seen within this year, I will contact all of your authors with a copy of my submission, your fraudulent charge of 3000 US$, my subsequent withdrawal, and then your insulting “YOU DUMMY!” response.

As the chairman of the board of editors, Dr. Gruezo, you should learn that PR and friendly language should be at the heart of your business operation, even when scientists pose challenging questions and concerns.

There is no room for aggressive, cheating and misleading publishers.

I wish you well.

Cordially,

Jaime A. Teixeira da Silva

You are correct that I REMOVED Dove Press from my list. My personal recommendation still stands, however.
When publishers are borderline, they skirt the border over time. If you had a list, would Dove be on it or off it?

Comment on Another Conference Organizer to Avoid: Global Academic Network by David Torrey

I totally agree. Global Academic Network conferences are really bad, bad, and bad. They just want to make money, but never care about academic quality. I attended a conference organized by them in Los Angeles, and some of my friends also attended their conferences by accident (found on internet). And all of the conferences were badly-organized. When we try to give suggestion, then they got angry, and said “we can accept suggestion from professors, not students” that was so impolite, inappropriate. Please never, never attend their conference
