I also asked them a week ago about something but they didn’t reply. I’ve decided that if I can rewrite my old Ph.D. it might be suitable for publication by a a mainstream academic publisher down the line, when I have the time. When you think of it, you only have one Ph.D. or other work like this one you refer to, so why waste it on these guys?

Comment on Hundreds of Articles Disappear as Publisher Changes Model from Open Access to Toll Access by Zerdana

Jeff, Is this a ‘growing pain’ of the OA field? Fake OA journals publish plagiarized crap, and then get hit with takedown notices. Trying to cut their losses, they switch to toll access, destroying their one sure way of making money. As a toll access journal, they are not different (in terms of business model) from the several other genuine ones, rendering the fake ones out of business. The one downside to this is the loss of reputation for OA as a viable publishing model.

I have published a lot in few of these journals , which are based in india , as i had to send money through western union to india as publication charges, i feel really dejected at the moment as i regarded these as fair publications , does having published in these journals have an impact on my profile as a researcher?

That journal has been on my list for a long time. I recommend avoiding this journal and all the other journals from the publisher.

No, I didn’t say that AJOL is predatory. It’s an aggregator — it collects content from publishers and helps make it more accessible. In terms of predatory it’s N/A because it’s not really a publisher.
