“MDPI is not currently on my list. They appealed, and the appeals board recommended I remove them, so I did.”

Judging from the tone of your post and comments it doesn’t seem like you agree with your appeals board’s recommendation.

If that’s the case, why did you agree to remove MDPI from your list in the first place? On the other hand, if you did agree with their recommendation, why do you continue to portray MDPI as a predatory publisher?

The American Research Institute for Policy Development is a completely bogus publisher. I recommend you delete the spam and not send them anything..

Pinnacle Journal Publication is included on my list of questionable publishers. This means I recommend that all researchers avoid submitting papers to the journals they publish. It’s regrettable that the university forwarded spam email from a predatory publisher, perhaps lending credibility to the spammer.

Dear Mr Beall,

What is your opinion on the “Atlas of Science”?http://atlasofscience.org/

It asks for commentaries on one’s own papers with a view to providing dissemination of contents to the lay press at large.

Upfront, I see issues with supplying them with details of a paper for which I have signed off the copyrights to a journal house.

Would value your advice.

I have had a somewhat similar experience with a journal in Economics. I rejected a deeply flawed manuscript, the journal still published it and then had to nerve to ask me to review a follow-up by the same authors submitted to the same journal. That one got rejected, though.

This was an Elsevier journal.

Dear Prof Beall; Some well indexed journals even in PUBMED (I won’t mention names), reward reviewers with free 30 days access in scorpus/ScienceDirect. This was interesting and i was doing reviews for these journals. For sometime now when i do the review and when i log- in i am told i don’t have access.
I contacted the respective journals several times but had no response
I contacted the support team of scopus and i was replied i had no pending reviews.
I am sensing some foul play here, and have stopped doing the reviews although they keep on sending me papers for review.
Who is fooling who here? Who has gone predatory?
Thanks for your advice
Andy

It’s not illegal; it’s just another way to get money from researchers. Science journalists are responsible for translating science to a popular audience. I’d recommend ignoring this “atlas.”

Andy

Check if the mails you received along with the invitations to review contain the following sentence:

“As a reviewer you are entitled to complimentary access to Scopus and ScienceDirect for 30 days. Full instructions and details will be provided upon accepting this invitation to review.”

This is a legal reward for reviewing articles, and I think it’s indeed a good incentive from Elsevier.

Yes they do. I will then try one more review and see if that works. Thanks

No doubt the range of journals for which I review is limited, but some make it clear upfront that all reviewer’s reports (anonymized) will be sent to all the others, along with the editorial decision. It is the comments, rather than the recommendation that are forwarded. This seems fair enough to me. It could get a bit heavy in terms of time and effort for small, specialist journals with non-automated submission and processing systems.

Is the Review of Integrative Business and Economics Research published by the Society of Interdisciplinary Business Research (www.sibresearch.org) also in the list of predatory journals? Thank you.

I disagree with the premise of your question. The Review of Integrative Business and Economics Research is apparently no longer published by the Society of Interdisciplinary Business Research; they sold the journal.

Like others, my name/picture is being used by the journal without my permission. The website lists me as the “Chief Editor” of the International Journal of Languages and Literature. I am not the editor, but cannot get the journal to stop using my name/likeness. I have been trying for a year to have my name/picture removed. I did receive an email from someone saying my name would be removed on June 30, 2015, but as of today (December 21, 2015), my name is still being used on their website and in emails.

More SciEP spam today… again from the “Editorial Assistant, Science and Education Publishing”, who is now called “Dr. MD. M. Conley”. I am not sure whether the MD is part of his name, or a title, additional to Dr. and indicative of higher status.

His e-mail server is now a new domain, scioa.org, which turns out to be registered in Shenzhen, China, but this time with the e-address “giovannicascante@gmail.com”. “Giovanni” has also registered several other domains (sciexplore.net, Sapubcfp.com, globalcfp.com), presumably with the plan of starting further fleets of mockademic journals.

Dear Jeffray Beall,
Today I got an email from http://measpublishing.co.uk/ to publish free paper. I think its a predatory journal because on its website it says 200 GBP as paper publishing fee. Please review this publisher. Your reviews are Honorable.
Thankyou

Can you send a link for the first one? I cannot find it.
Regarding Der Pharma Chemica, this journal is associated with the publisher Scholars’ Research Library, which is included on my list. I recommend against submitting any papers to this journal.
