Don’t think it the European Scientific Journal is actually based in Portugal – seems more like Macedonia.(although they do have an office in the Azores apparently).

Would you please clarify on why “EconJournals” is on the list? SCOPUS has indexed their journals too. Any answer should help.

This is a one-man operation that, in my opinion, is set up just to give Turkish academics journals that offer easy acceptance of their submissions. It has three broad journals, and the same guy is the editor of all three. It’s a low-quality publisher, and it’s not a good place for any serious researcher to publish his or her work.

Dear Prof Beall;
Please advice me on what this means and what I should do with it.
I received this in my mail:
« Are you the author of work entitled « …………………………»?
It was apparently written at the ………………………. Journal in 2014.
I’m Erin Lane from the editorial team of Lambert Academic Publishing.
I believe this particular topic could be of interest to a wider audience and we would be glad to consider publishing it.
We would be especially interested in publishing a complete academic work of yours (a thesis, a dissertation or a monograph) as a printed book. Our services are free of charge for authors.

Andy—-, would you agree to receive more information in an electronic brochure?
Thank you in advance.

Sincere regards,

Erin Lane

This is a company that wants you to sign over some or all of the rights to your work so they can sell it on Amazon and other similar sites. It’s not illegal, but few authors ever see any benefit from this, and for many it’s not a good choice.

Dr. Beall:

I really appreciate what you’re doing here.

I recently had a paper accepted at the Journal of American Academic Research (http://www.american-journals.com/) with the caveat that I pay a $200 for processing and mailing fees. After protesting and contacting one of the professors listed as an editor, they agreed to reduce the fee to $100.

They say where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and something seems off here.

Any feedback?

Regards,

Ben Stafworn

I invite you to read this essay entitled, "<a href="http://www.skeptic.com/eskeptic/13-10-09/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Ayurvedic Medicine: It’s been around for a thousand years, but does it work?</a>". Here's a selection from the essay: "There is, in fact, compelling evidence that Ayurveda does not work."

i am pretty confident that Baishideng is not a legitimate publisher. just look at the names of their journals. they simply took the names of existing and highly respected publications, such as JBC and added “world”. a very shady practice

Thank you for alerting me to this journal, which I had not heard of before. I think that pretty much everything about the journal is fake, contrived, or fictional. I have documented an analysis of the journal and added it to my <a href="http://wp.me/P280Ch-J" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">list</a>. I strongly recommend that you withdraw your submission and find a better venue for your work. Thanks again.

I get the impression that every two-bit wannabee predatory publisher dreams of moving on to predatory conferences as the next step up to the big time. The Trash Conference invitations outnumber the Trash Journal invitations in my spam-mailbox these days.
The OMICS scum are particular vile, that is true, but the WASET scum are close contenders.

Please check about this journal http://oiirj.org/oiirj/blog/ 2016/01/01/vol-vi-issue-i-jan-feb2016/ . It seems to me very doubtful and low quality. They are willing to accept to paper after two hours.

Kind regards Diturije

Although the news you send today is dismal, it’s also so critical to helping researchers navigate these increasingly foul waters. And whether your list is perfect or not, the question remains, “What in heavens name would we do without it?”

The evaluation of a journal / publisher involves much more than a single factor. Unfortunately, the honest efforts of many editorial board members are wasted because predatory journals publish papers even when the board members recommend rejection. Thus their time and work are wasted. The ed board members are exploited. I recommend that you resign from the editorial boards of any low-quality journals and instead seek to work with reputable journals in your field.

Dear Jeff,
Thank you very much for your reply. I will try to resign, but I am afraid that it is going to be problem bigger than entering into the board membership of those journals.
Sincerely yours,
Ospan
