Comment on Beall’s List of Predatory Publishers 2015 by Jeffrey Beall

This journal — and the other journals published by Online-Journals.org — are out of scope for my work because they are not, by definition, open access.

One has to register to view the published articles. This additional barrier to viewing the articles means few will see them, and anyone who publishes here will be hiding his work, for the most part.

If you want to pay to publish in an open-access journal, you would probably be better off not selecting one where readers have to register to view the articles.

Dear Jiang Chen

You mentioned

A journal from Iran should not ask its authors to pay in Indian bank.

Where did you see the indian bank information? This journal is free and there is no charge for publishing on this journal!

Hello, recently i accepted to be an editor in jacobs journal of community medicine and jacobs journal of internal medicine. I also edited and reviewed one article after joining. However, i see jacobs publisher in your list. Could you please tell me the reason behind it? Do you recommend me that i should leave the editorial board? Thanks in advance.

Your <a href="http://www.jcrs010.com/?T=Publication%20Ethics%20and%20Malpractice%20Statement" rel="nofollow">"Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement"</a> appears to be a virtually 100% copy of <a href="https://www.elsevier.com/editors/publishing-ethics" rel="nofollow">Elsevier's policy</a>, without attribution. Given that even your own ethics statement is more than 4% copied, how can you expect your authors to keep below 4%?

Jacobs is owned by Jacob Nixon Geddam in Hyderabad, India. He also owns JDSciMed Central, another bogus OA publisher.
Yes, I recommend find a better publisher to share your expertise with. This one will probably publish everything you review, even if you recommend rejection.

I have received a weird rejection like that which said nothing about the article itself, but explicitly stated that I should send it somewhere else “where it would attract more readers”.

Editors have to know their market and obviously your article did not appeal to their readership.

What is so confusing?

For CZpersi: I concur with Harvey Kane. I admit to using a rather soft form of words to indicate that a paper is not going to attract the attention of the readership. Not that I mean the paper if of no interest to anyone, just that, with limited space and a known readership, it is not appropriate. I am sure I and others get it wrong sometimes, but the alternative free for all in which readers have to separate the (rare) wheat from the abundant chaff in all journals does not strike me as a good thing.

This reflects the need for editorial board members is also rising up.Some journals are now paying for EB members..As a new journal, they had opted this fake way to fool the authors and grab their papers.

GOOD journals do not lack expert scientists who are willing to serve as EiCs and as reviewers. Your statement is entirely false. Fake journals, conversely, don’t need editorial board members.
