Hi AhmadI;
If you consider a big name as Elsevier to be predatory, i doubt if you will have any international publisher of any worth. Having a journal University-based ( especially in Africa) is no gurantee of quality; All of us know the interpersonal squables and pressure that comes up, when change of grade in our universities is imminent, coupled with the time factor to do reviewing. Not to talk of financing regular production. Probably it might be better to consider this issue on a case to case basis that generalize111

I think it’s negligent. It meets the criteria for inclusion in my list.
It’s also comical; it’s the only “quartely” [sic] I know of that publishes six issues per year.

The top page lists an interesting set of reasons why scientists should publish there:

“ADVANTAGES OF OUR JOURNAL
Professionalism
Individual approach

Ethical
Punctuality
Honesty
Economical
Ingenuity
Stability”

The one I loved the most was “Ingenuity”.

On this blog, I've written at least two blog posts explaining David Publishing's weaknesses. Regarding, "IJCNIS.ORG," it's a sloppy and otherwise low-quality journal that is probably set up just as an place for faculty from one or two universities to get fast, easy, and quick publishing of their articles.

This journal is published by the Hyderabad, India-based publisher called JSciMed Central. This publisher is on my list and is dangerous. I recommend you decline the invitation.

The papers themselves will reject? Reject what? Publication? Their authors? “You’re not my real dad! You stole me from Strudebaker et al!”

Hello Nihal,

I have published two papers in “Psyche: A Journal of Entomology”. I regret having done it, thus I recommend you publish elsewhere.

I went for them as old Psyche used to be a very good journal, and I saw reputed colleagues publishing on it. Moreover I was invited to publish on special issues, with no charge.
However I feel my papers were not valued there by anyone, and response from readers very limited as a reflex. They had no impact factor after having promised me to get one; they had no editor-in-chief to consult with. Even downloading (old)Psyche past issues is not easy from their website since searching is complicated.

There are other open-access options in entomology, in my opinion.

Oh, never mind, the 20% message is gone now.

Along with one of their papers which was retracted within 5 minutes of me e-mailing them evidence (if only other journals were so fast).

I would aim for Journal of ethnobiology and ethnomedicine or Journal of Ethnobiology or Economic Botany.

Also, a recent victim. My eagerness to get my work published was the culprit of me not further investigating the website. As stated, looks professional. I received the acceptance email and the scheduled publication date (December 31, 2015) with applicable Vol. number. Well no publication and my emails for status have remained unanswered. Yes, I paid the fees. I was scammed.

What can be done to stop these people?

Can’t resist to point out that they claim Gold Open Access in their “About” pages, but have a copyright transfer form that places any and all rights in the hands of the publisher…
