I agree. Actually, I do have this publisher already included on my list here. Thanks for checking.

Could be I’m missing out on something here, but it seems to me you are possibly being rather harsh on Inderscience, Jeffrey. I don’t find them on your predatory publishers list and when I did some research into their journals in my field a while back and looked at some of their published articles they seemed quite ok. The only warning sign I noted is that they seem to have a rather large fleet of journals.
Their journals don’t appear to be top level but hover around quartile 2 and 3 in Scimago which places them as being average in my reading of the data and so possible submission venues for perhaps small scale studies which merit publication but would be unlikely to be accepted in A-list journals. So my impression so far is that they are a valid and useful part of the scholarly publication ecosystem.
I submitted a paper of mine for publication in one of their journals in 2013 and it was handled quite professionally and when it happened that later in the review process I wished to withdraw my submission they were fine with that too. However this was a single one-off experience. I wonder if other folks here have had experience with the publisher.

That journal looks like a a pile of bullshit, pun intended. Pay 50$, get an “academic paper”.

Why do you supposed they skipped “county”, “province” and “municipality”. I think the “Municipal Journal of Animal Scientific Gerontology” could have an excellent fake impact factor. I’ll start with 2.114. Not too high to be doubted, not too low to be ignored (don’t want to be below 1), and far too many decimal points which indicates precision.

Jeff – unfortunately, I discovered that this journal (on your list) is indexed in CAS and thus appears in scifinder results.

Usually the ACS is better than this.

I think ACS has made a mistake. On this page, the journal negligently lists all of the fake impact factors it has "earned," i.e., paid for.

Dear Dr Beall
I just published a paper in Bank and Bank System Under business perspective group- Ukraine . I followed the process and I think It take quite long process to publish. I am sure it is not predatory journal. Tell the reasons and do you consider to remove it base on case by case journal not all journal under the same publisher.
regards
Abdul

I disagree that it takes a long time to get published in this publisher’s journals. I analyze at the publisher level whenever possible. Why are people from Malaysia sending their research to Ukrainian publishers?

the journal is scopus indexed and the rule here require us to publish in the scopus indexed. When you then judged it as predatory, the impact is devastated. I followed the rules (twice revisions) to get final acceptance to publish in this journal. Even I used a proof read service. Now all is useless.
Thank you

Comment on Article Spinning: A Plagiarism Technique for the 21st Century by Yawning Enthusiast

It’s pretty clear that using article spinning software to produce a scholarly paper isn’t just laziness, it’s frigging stupid! When subjected to peer review, any remnants of legitimacy will be crushed. Moreover, even more bizarre is that the sales pitch for these article spinning softwares isn’t really producing scholarly papers to begin with! Its purported function is to create pages of text containing similar keywords that will escape Google’s duplicate content detection. More pages on a website means more links can be inserted to the page and therefore increasing the chances other websites may redirect a link back to the original site. Under Google’s SEO (Search Engine Optimization) guidelines, this is supposed to boost the ranking of such websites on search engines, thereby increasing website traffic which, in turn, leads to increased sales.

This whole logic is insane because higher sales is considered the overriding objective, i.e. quantity is preferred over quality! More is always better. Sort of like more advertisements is better because it increases the chances of more potential buyers seeing the ads and hence the likelihood in purchasing the advertised product.

Seriously, this is what the biggest search engine in the world sees as priority, i.e. to facilitate the sale of even more low quality consumer products that we don’t need?

What a bleak future that is!

This journal is on my list here. I would recommend you find a better entomology journal -- there are many that are much better than this one.

I sent a request through scifinder to have it looked into, and checked the box to have someone “contact me” about my inquiry, so hopefully they get back to me and they terminate that journal’s spot in the index, with extreme prejudice

Hi Prof Beall;
What are the conditions for a journal or publisher in your list to be removed? Are there any fees to be paid?
Thanks

There’s an appeals process. There are no fees.
