I bet the organizers of the IAFOR conferences are getting rich.
Is there a non-profit scholarly society in your field? Wouldn’t it be better to attend the conference of a non-profit scholarly society, one that specializes in you field?

Dear Herr Doktor Bimler,

thanks for raising attention to this topic. But what prompted this assessment of yours? I searched for “telocytes OR telocyte” on PubMed. There are 157 articles, 86 of which appeared in J.Cell.Mol.Med., a Wiley journal with impact factor 4.0 that is “edited by L.M.Popescu”, according to its homepage. Three articles were published in PLOS ONE, three in a frontiersin.org journal.

This publication landscape is really curious. But I don’t think it shows that Frontiers journals “have become the main outlets” of such papers.

It’s a dangerous journal that should be avoided by everyone.

Dear all,

The Thomson Reuters Master List is not a measure of quality. It is foolish to use it for that purpose. It’s just a meaningless list.

Thanks for alerting me to this new journal.

Regarding the publisher International Scientific Publications (the one you link to), I observed some problems with spam, fast-track peer review, and, rather seriously, plagiarism.

So Miller and Wager chose National Review as the vehicle for their report on how shabby but superficially-scientific junk-journals are used by hacks and frauds to provide their conclusion-driven propaganda with a sheen of academic respectability, stovepipe it into political debate, and create mocktroversies out of consensus. This seems a trifle ironic.

True to form, the comment thread at NR quickly degenerates into a competition amongst the readers to see who can shout “Global Climate Change is a Fraud!!” the loudest

Ari - "A comparison of tropical temperature trends with model predictions – International Journal of Climatology" Douglas, Christy, Pearson and Singer, 2007 is a case of poor review. Sure this type of work gets published, but those that continually bring it up can't respond to any of the many criticisms that it immediately received. For instance: RealClimate Note the same authors made similar claims with earlier papers and were shown to be wrong then as well. Just same ol', same ol'.

Eastern Academic Journal.

Owned by one Milen Todorov, computational chemist, a research associate at a Bulgarian university. Looks like he has had to publish with predatory publishers in the past — including the International Scientific Publications you mentioned — so he’s decided to go into the business himself and grab a slice of the pie.
I like the special selling point of his journal(s), the New Publishing Model where you get to choose your own reviewer.

I have this journal's publisher -- DRUNPP Sarajevo -- included on my list here. I would recommend that you find a better journal for your work.
