Comment on Thai Researcher Has Hundreds of Publications, Except … by David Taylor

The basic problem with predatory journals is that they rely on authors who need easy publication for salary increases, promotions, etc. This is simply an example of a rather extreme case of using predatory journals as a means of professional aggrandizement — such journals don’t survive without authors, and this is a prime example of an author milking the system. It will look “personal” when it is discovered, but it is simply an example of how the system works.

Hi. Regarding your comment: ‘But hey, it’s open-access, and that’s all the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program cares about. It meets Europe’s criteria for scholarly publishing.’ may I ask what reference I could find for the idea that EU’s Horizon’s program would accept this – whatever accept means?

Also, do you mean it would give it funding, by the way?

I would be curious to read more on Horizon, but I can’t see anything else on your site.

Yes, I think it is. I recommend you not send any papers to all the journals published by Science Hub.

Dear Professor Bealls
Hi!. I’m Dr Abbas Keshtkar, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology & Biostatistics in IRAN (Tehran University of Medical Sciences). Recently, I designed and presented a course entitled “How to predatory or hijacked journals?” based on your invaluable educational materials. Thank you so much and good luck.

Hello Jeff,
IJAERS – international journal of advanced engineering and sciences appears on your list even when then meet your key criteria of displaying the qualifications of its editorial board members; I wonder what maybe wrong with them even when they have an ex-NASA staff as chief editor? What is your opinion of the international journal of energy and environmental engineering, IJEEE; and also international journal of energy and environment, IJEE?

I don’t have a journal named International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Sciences on my list.

The other titles are also not on the list. I wonder if the NASA guy even knows he is the “chief editor.”

Of course it’s personal, but Dr. Wiwanitkit pretty much walked into it by claiming to be the world record holder.

Assuming that the facts are correct, this is important information about the way that system works.

What are metrics that you find false?
It is a new journal, and as its managing editor, I have proves that all released papers are peer reviewed. According to reviewers recommendations we have rejected 3 papers and 1 was rejected because we haven’t found qualified persons for review.
It is easy to say this is “low-quality & deceptive”, but renown takes time. Our first issue was released Last December, and actually we are able to release monthly even with few number of papers.
Believe me M. Jeffrey, you will change your opinion about this journal soon when it will be indexed in Scopus.
Regards,

Thanks for the quick reply. The Journal is actually – International Journal of Advanced Engineering Research and Science (IJAERS). The Editor-in-Chief actually was a Post Doctoral Fellow at NASA; And all members of the editorial board list their qualifications and specialty. The journal was also recently listed as a Thomson Reuters Emerging Sources Citation Index. The IJEE is sponsored by the international energy and environment foundation (IEEF), and do not charge any fee for publication. The other IJEEE is based in Tehran, Iran.

I find all this rather detrimental to the genuine efforts of Miss Tina Maalouf and myself to promote HallScript as a legitimate and reliable service for linguistic and legal spheres.

We have both regional and Occidental clients; undertaking both commercial and academic commissions (which includes the RAND Corporation). Fundamentally, the location of the enterprise is intrinsic to specific translation resources (i.e. Arabic), while attempting to acquire commissions for other languages (certain colleges of Cambridge University access the service).

Miss Maalouf and myself aspire to high professional standards and we do not compromise our devotion to this pursuit of excellence.

As the saying goes, Do not judge a book by its cover…

It looks suspicious to me. The promise publication in a bunch of Springer journals. I think it’s just a come on to get people to pay the registration fee.

Hello Bell, Good to see your blog. I was going through almost all your posts and must say you did a very good work. I have one question. I am planning to present a paper in Krishi Sanskriti ( http://krishisanskriti.org ) , they organize conferences in India very frequently (almost every week in some part of India) and publish all papers presented it in its journals too. Is it also listed in your list?? do you cover such seminar preceding journals too? They are charging 3200 INR for it.

Early response would be appreciated .

Yes, this publisher / conference organizer is included on my list here. I would recommend you find a stronger publisher for your work.
