I’ve had that journal on my list since February, 2014. It’s a very low-quality journal. I cannot imagine that it was somehow higher quality in 2013. I don’t think it ever was legitimate.

I received an actual physical letter today from one of the RIP journals, GJPAM.

The author “benefits” (quote marks placed accordingly) bullets haven’t changed much, the reviews have just accelerated to 1-2 weeks instead of 3-4. There is no mention of APCs.

In spite of what Sanjay says above, RIP say they’re still indexed in Scopus, and they don’t half insist on it. It’s the header of the flyer, written in a bigger font than the journal’s name, complete with the Scopus logo. The envelope even states “if undelivered, return to SCOPUS INDEXED JOURNALS, Research India Publication”.
RIP also falsely claim the journal is indexed in MathSciNet. While it has an entry there, and the first issues were referenced (last: vol.3, no.2, 2007!), its status is unambiguous: “no longer indexed”.

The <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Website#mirror_site" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">mirror site</a> has the same content as the other site. Mirror sites are used as backups.

I have been chatting with Lisseth Tovar as well. Despite my general lack of bargaining skills, I too earned an amazing discount, though so far only to $750. I will see if I can beat $300, which will allow me to add Master Bargainer to my CV. Came to this page after getting a little suspicious about this outfit and googling Lisseth. As well as examining internal medicine reviews website more carefully.

Was wondering who Donald was, but from this page I now know he was the former boss editor. Someone so important his name still sits above the photo of the new boss editor, whose name is not Donald.

Also noticed the chief senior editor has a profile so nice, it appears twice. Once attached to a woman’s photo. The other to a man’s, apparently an oncologist. This senior author is brilliant as she has numerous degrees. But I guess even the most brilliant can be absent minded as the only way she remembered she has a PhD and some other degree is because it was stated on the university website.

And I noticed that ‘thorough’ was misspelt, where it appeared on their home page next to the word review! Hilarious in itself really.

I see that Sherline Kurt is everywhere! But the confusing part is that the Journal “Journal of Veterinary Medicine and Research” is also listed in PubMed.PMID: 25950023 PMCID: PMC4418640 The journal website is also very nicely made up. http://www.jscimedcentral.com/VeterinaryMedicine/vol1issue1.php

No confusion here. PubMed is not a measure of quality. In fact, it is filled with rubbish, as this evidence indicates. JSciMed Central is a predatory publisher and all researchers should avoid it.

Comment on OMICS Goes from “Predatory Publishing” to “Predatory Meetings” by Baldé

I have just learned who is OMICS. Unfortunately too late. I am convinced now that I will not be refunded of my expenses of recording of a conference initially scheduled in New Orleans (August 1st to August 2nd) and finally deferred to San Antonio from December 1st to December 2nd. In addition, I was indexed in their Steering Committee without my permission… Why the lack of legal means for definitively blocking this kind of swindle?

I receive many of these emails, and have posted some of them below just in case you might find some journals that you are unaware of, but not for public posting.

Most recently this month I heard from Kateryna Bjelka, her faithful pal Reni, word for word, the very same spiel, If you have moved on from this line of research” phrase (the publication of mine which she referenced not in any connected to research, so this is most definitely a form letter and she has no idea what in the heck I published!), and she really, really, really wanted something similar for Medical Research Archives.

For a long time I was receiving a request monthly from the Journal of Nursing Education and Practice for an article, so they were obviously sending automatic emails and I wonder if they even knew that these were going out.

I’m a public policy and regulatory person who works for a professional nursing organization, and the only research that I do is periodic job analysis studies to validate our licensure and certification exams. We also publish three nursing journals and when I get these crazy emails, I always forward them to the Publications department because they also keep a list of predatory nursing journals.

When I was just looking back at those emails, it occurred to me that I began to receive them more frequently when I joined two peer research-sharing groups. One is ResearchGate http://www.researchgate.net The other is one which tells you who else is publishing in your domain, and is much less active than ResearchGate. It is Biomedupdater at http://www.biomedupdater.com/

I am curious to know if those who are being pursued by these pay-to-publish hawks are also members of ResearchGate or other similar groups. Because essentially you are giving them your contact information and all they have to do is send you a form email and some percentage of people will pay I guess.
