After reviewing a manuscript for J. Hydrogeology & Hydrologic Engineering I immediately received an email from the “Associate Managing Editor” requesting my “updated CV, research interests and recent photographs for updating our Reviewers Datatbase.” Now why would a journal need my photo for a “Reviewers Database?” I knew about this new journal scam; I wish I had realized that Hydrogeology & Hydrologic Engineering was one of these journals before I went to the trouble of reviewing the manuscript. Worse, it was written by one of my former students; I immediately emailed him and alerted him to this scam.
