Are you sure? Could you please send me a link to one of their journals that you believe has an impact factor? I was not aware that this publisher had any impact factor journals. Please send me a link so we are sure we are talking about the same journal(s). Thank you.

Please recall to refer to “*The* Jeffery Beall”, please! (ok, now I feel bad about making fun of their non-native English; let me atone by saying that I do appreciate their honesty about their plans for “giving services of [...] plagiarism”.)

I thought the first rule of Journals Club was not to talk about Journals Club.

Thank you for sharing this information. I agree that this is a case of journal hijacking, and I've added this to my list of hijacked journals <a href="http://scholarlyoa.com/other-pages/hijacked-journals/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">here</a>. Thanks!

Hi:

Here is link to a journal/conference call for papers from an email I received.

http://amhighed.com/ (American Institute of Higher Education)

It publishes the “American Journal of Business Research” and the “American Journal of Educational Studies” as well as holding “conferences and conventions.”

I find it interesting that the web site seems to indicate that the two journals they publish have the same editor, although their instructions to authors refers to “editors.” From what I can tell the whole operation is run by one person. I could not find a list of reviewers or an editorial board, either on the web site or in the actual pages of the journals. The web site claims a double blind review (interestingly the word “peer” is missing), but it appears a single editor makes all the decisions about acceptance. For the conference they hold there is a link to an “Executive Committee” which contains only a single name, the same name as the editor of both journals (and the link to their: “2013 American Institute of Higher Education – 1st International E-Conference: October 25-27, 2013″ is completely broken). The journal also demands that the copyright of any published article be transferred to it.

I hope you are able to keep up your effort, predatory publishers seem to be growing even faster than shady for profit “universities,” which is saying something. I hope we are able to get rid of both before Gresham’s Law takes over.

In the comments of the reply (https://journalsclub.com/blog/scholarly-open-access/) there seems to be a (real or fake?) scam message pretending to remove the journal’s name from Beall’s list after payment of $5000 to a turkish bank account.

I’m between shock and entertainment. Cannot make my mind.

Dear Dr. Beall,
I want to know whether the international journal of medical research and review is a predatory journal or not. Because this is not in your list. This journal has three more sister journals. Kindly tell me the same

One comment (by “journals city” on September 4, 2014 at 9:30 AM) to the reply on that page clarifies the objectives of this Jeffery Bells [sic]: “he ask publihers for payment of US $ 5000 to remove their journals names from http://scholarlyoa.com/ its amazing read this email” followed by a text that is so poorly written that it would fit quite well in the journals club as a manuscript… So someone is giving his bank account for predatory journals to send money to in order to be taken of the list. Even the frauds are being frauded. Funny, almost…

It looks like the scam there is genuine, rather than being made up by the offended publisher. The same complaint has turned up on some spamademic publisher's FB page: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=325162354305871&id=325071827648257 I also refer you to <a href="http://scholarlyoa.com/2012/07/23/journals-from-antarctica/" / rel="nofollow">this list of ingeniously-named journals from a few years ago</a>. The editor / publisher of at least one of them, the Mendeleev Journal of Chemistry, is supposedly one <a href="http://www.academicejournals.com/mjc/authors.html" rel="nofollow">M.K.R.S. VEERA KUMAR</a> (who must add "vile web design" to his other crimes against humanity). Anyway, Mr VEERA KUMAR <a href="http://www.allpapers.info/JefferyBeall/jb.html" rel="nofollow">is also warning people</a> that "This shady person has approached me promising that Jeffery Beall [sic] will say nice things about my scam, if I give him $$$." Am I a bad person for hoping that the Turkish second-order grifter has approached *lots* of publishers, promising to have them uncategorised, and that all the others have paid him money?
