They seem to have changed their address to 40 Monticello St., Monticello, NY 12701 – a street so small that even the Google Maps car has not driven along it, but from the satellite view appears to be a barn. Impressive!

I recommend against submitting papers to Academic Star Publishing Company.
I do not publish a list of questionable conferences.

The links lead to a publisher called Eudoxus Press LLC. The journals appear to not be open access; they require a subscription or a payment to view the content. The journals all appear to be the effort of a single person, George Anastassiou. Because they are not open access, I will not be adding them to my list.

I also have received their emails but considering the last one was signed by someone who teaches at University of Phoenix and isn’t embarrassed by that fact, I assumed it was a sham. My email was from this guy: Dr. N. Kirk Guthlac Anyalezu, Professor of Economics, University of Phoenix, USA.

It’s good to know people are writing about this. I get a lot of these emails, most of which are actually legitimate, so if I hadn’t seen “University of Phoenix” I probably wouldn’t have looked into this. Thanks!

I published in a Hindawi journal recently. My paper went through careful review, the comments were insightful and the questions relevant, we made most of the suggested changes and the paper was accepted. Then we received galley proofs and suggested fixing a couple of very small points, (e.g. insert a space between mean and SD values), then we got a second set of galley proofs. The process was smooth and professional, all authors were included in every communication and the journal is indexed on PubMed.
Best of luck.

Thanks to everyone for posting examples of the emails they received. It really helps take the guesswork out of this well-crafted spam..
I also received one recently (and the ‘have you been on vacation?’ follow up) from a Project Manager at International Innovation. It was tailored to my specific location and included the title of my latest grant. They are preparing the upcoming Australian Research Report and the email included pdf samples of their publications on some TOP scientists from Australia…
If I was Australia’s Chief Scientist, maybe I’d pay up the article processing charges too (details of which will be shared if I respond)!

@ Google-not:

Totally agree with your perspective. Google scholar is more beneficial to science and academia as a whole than harmful. Although my institution provides access to Web of Science, its hardly ever the starting point of literature search. By comparison, Google scholar is extremely easy to use and is a great tool for conducting searches on topics about which you have little information at the initial stage. Additionally, for lots of researchers in institutions who can’t afford access to WoK/WoS, Google Scholar is an absolute lifesaver. I think researchers out there on a mission to save science from the junk by imposing stricter censorship are just paranoid. Let science and its method speak for itself!
