Not to be confused with ichea.org, a copy of CHEA by the same people behind IACUE. Also see detca.org, acbsp.us, iacpt.org, idetc.us, ipqmi.org, etc. All sorts of dubious-looking credentials from apparently fictional people.

Indeed. I have emailed the real CHEA to let them know about this. And I copied in ICHEA and IACUE to let them know that we know all about them.

They have put my name in the editorial without my consent. I wrote to them three times already to drop my name with no success.
Perhaps there is any way to complain and maybe to shut it down?

Whoisology links the IACUE.org website to a whole tangle of scamsites registered in different names but all using the same Taipei e-address
https://whoisology.com/archive_11/iacue.org

There’s detca.org, education scams (emba-edu.org), conference / indexing grifts (ijcso.org. iopca.us), and a couple of predatory parodies of the IEEE (ieee-publications.org, publications-ieee.org). All vouching for one another’s credentials.

Fraudsters go where the money is.

A few more minutes fossicking around reveals that IACUE.org is linked (through a shared organisation) with a long long list of on-line diploma mills:
https://whoisology.com/organization/archive_11/intach/1

For instance, acbsp.us (a parasitical spoof of the existing acbsp.org).

All linking to one another and vouching for the validity of one another’s certificates and qualifications. It is like a glimpse into a parallel universe.

Yes it’s like stepping through the looking glass into Wonderland, where everything is the same (plagiarized) but weird.

Respected R.V.Krishnakumar …thank you for your comments on IJPBS for NAAS rating. What makes you to say that IJPBS get 6.1 but nature gets 3 ?

Dear Dr. Beall,

I noticed on the web that the so-called “Institute of Research Engineers and Doctors (IRED)” (which is in your list) has been organizing many conferences lately in Switzerland and Rome. They list their address as: IRED Headquarters, 42 Broadway, Suite 12-217, New York, NY 10004, USA. I do not know if these conferences are reallly taking place. I submitted a paper to their Rome conference last week and received an acceptance message today. This is why I became suspicious of them and found your web site and the list. No review organization in the world can review a group of submittals of scientific papers in such a short time. So there are two explanations about what is going on here:

1) either this is areal entity that exits at 42 Broadway in NY and physically organizes these conferences by reserving hotels etc. without reviewing the papers submitted and only with the objective of collecting registration fees to make money (no scientific aims).

2) or this is a fake entity that doesn’t even exist at that address, therefore, someone or some criminal people are communicating with potential authors to register and pay for fake conferences for fraud.

In either case, is there any government department unit in the USA that we can complain about such fraudulent money making activities under the disguise of scientific meetings but in reality without any scientific goals. Can their IP addresses be determined (many countries do this) so that their illegal activities can be terminated and they can be punished without luring any more people into their scams?

The New York address is that of a virtual office company. The people who rent the “office” are likely really based overseas and have no presence in the U.S. Thus, getting assistance from U.S. law enforcement is not likely. They are using this New York address only to make it appear that they are based here.

Based on reports I’ve received from others, most “fake” conferences actually take place, but they are poorly organized, lack a coherent theme, and often have many no-shows, including advertised keynote speakers. Predatory conferences are a growing problem. Many researchers have been victimized by them.

Thanks for all the mails I received. Are there ways to remove predator journals that do not bother to do a proper review from the places where they are indexed? They are very attractive to researchers in the middle East and other developing countries. It’s so much easier to publish in them and get impact factor points, than to publish in my local online journals that do not hesitate to tell me to improve my papers, and do not give impact factor points, although indexed by Scopus.

Thanks again. Please continue to email. Dr. Miranda YEOH

What is the current status of esci journals in your opinion? Last year I sent them a manuscript and after a month they rejected it. they even didnt send it to a reviewer.
The manuscript was not novel but any predatory journal would have accepted it.
so I think they are fair enough.

About 2-3 years ago, all online submission systems of journals I submitted to had no requirement for ORCID, either when registering for submission to a journal, or for submission to the journal itself. Now, almost every one of the same journals displays the ORCID option (for registration and submission). For now, in every single one of those journals, ORCID is optional. For the reasons indicated above, I do not support ORCID, nor do I have an ORCID number, nor do I see any advantage in having one. We should be extremely worried when one day journals will make ORCID obligatory rather than optional. Because on that day, we will have effectively militarized science.

I also do not see any utility for ORCID except for tracking people and collecting money. All journals have been operating well without ORCID or DOIs. These are new sources to generate money and capitalize science.
