Why did you mention Asian Research Consortium on the list? This website included 4 journals; and 1 new journal has been added recently. I think you should analyze this publisher again. This publisher has changed dramatically. You can submit one paper and see how rigorously they review the paper.

Yet another bunch of predators.
I appeal to UNESCO to form an international watch body to protect the interests of genuine researchers and scientists. This is very unfortunate that the fake predatory publishers are taking control of the articles of researchers and scientists for their unethical trading.

No, I don’t think it’s a conflict of interest.

Medknow was purchased by Wolters Kluwer Health, a reputable publisher, but MedKnow wasn’t on my list.

I appreciate your reply.
I have read a profile of an editor of three Open Access Journals.I failed to find any photo of the editor on the net despite intensive and frequent searches.I have concluded that the person posing as the editor of the journals is non-existent.

Sir, I do not understand that You are critical of Hindawi publication, while at the same time you are referring OASPA. A Board member of OASPA sitting on the chair of Hindawi group !!!

Sir, I do recommend that you expose other journal, who are charging exorbitant amount for publishing articles. You are doing a tremendous job. Keep it up sir.

Research & publication should be an Open access to all. Why closed journal charges huge sum of money for just reading a research paper?

International Journal Publishers Group may well be a sleazy journal but you have no business linking it to open journal systems (OJS). OJS is an open source software project and is used by thousands of legitimate open access journals many in developing countries operated by universities and other groups of scholars that publish journals in most cases at no cost to authors or readers.

While Zaineul Abedin comments above “yet another bunch of predators” — and well said! — I also feel it is important that the gullible and sometimes vain people who are willing to close their eyes and sit back and enjoy it for their own careerist and resume reasons needs are also PART of the problem. Not only caveat emptor, but open your eyes people.

InTech publishers too. They seemed to be doing good in Europe. What’s wrong with them?

I also got the email from LAP almost days after my thesis was placed on the library website (they must have a very organised system that searches university webpages daily).

I told them, politely, that I was looking into other publishers and have not heard back from them. I simply can’t understand why anyone with serious scholarly work would publish with these guys. I suspect that a book from LAP on your CV would rule you out of any tenure track position at a credible university. The desire to publish with LAP is even more bizarre when there are other, respectable, academic presses out there that will at least look seriously at your thesis (Peter Lang comes to mind).

Yes, giving reasons is an excellent idea. I recently received the following email, and just the fact that it was delivered to my ‘spam’ suggests problems: Interesting the sender gives the option of receiving no more emails by sending one with STOP as the subject.
” Dear Colleague,

Science Journal Publication is an international Open-Access Journal with the sole aim of publishing original research paper(s).
We publish:

* Original articles in basic and applied research.
* Case studies.
* Critical reviews, surveys, opinions, commentaries and essays.

We will inform author(s) of the decision on their manuscript(s) within 2
weeks of submission.

Author(s) interested in publishing their research paper(s) should send their manuscript(s) in MS-WORD directly to this E-mail

Thank you very much for your time and have a nice day.

Regards,

Management
Science Journal Publication

Note: To stop receiving this message, simply send a blank message with STOP as subject.

Eric, why “for a laugh”? it’s an ordinary city street. Have you seen Nature’s offices in London? They look really grim from the outside. .
