Comment on Vanity Journals are Threatening Taxonomy by Tim Scott PHD

Wow Ray Hoser must have a lot of aliases. they include names like richard wells, robert sprackland, sloppus and more …
Give up the slurs Ola. Fact is Hoser is ther god of herpetology and without him, no one in Australia or the USAS would still be allowed to keep them privately. Your ilk would have won the war!

Can you take a look at Iamure.ph journals? One of them is ISI but the others seem to be too colourful to be considered as an academic journak.

And hi again Ray.
For those unfamiliar with Hosers way to operate, he has a documented (admitted by himself) history of using aliases. There are usually no problems recognising them as they come with overwhelmingly positive claims about Hoser and no ones ever heard of them (and they defer communications that would establish they do exist independently from Hosers computer).

There’s no war. Just a lot of people who are tired of the neverending lies. Stop them and people would stop pointing them out.

Does anyone think it strange that someone with a PhD would link to “Snake Handler Melbourne” when writing a reply like this? Not only linking but entering it as their own website? (I speculate but I would guess he doesn’t care because so few will read this but it does give yet another link to his websites. This is something he is well aware of as he well know how to take advantage of SEO and web ranking methods.)

If I am wrong and Tim Scott PHD does exist, I invite him to contact me directly. The owner of this website has my email address. If he is real and not just another pseudonym I will apologise here.

Dr Beall, I just happened to read this:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/indiahome/article-2326804/DISRESPECTFULLY-YOURS-Send-Section-66A-bullies-home.html

The draconian Indian Information Technology Act Section 66A is rearing its ugly head on the global internet, after having created enough mayhem within the country.

Abuse of IT Act Section 66A is a clear marker, it is employed by all those who thrive on carefully planted (and often undeserved) reputation. Other instances below:

http://janamejayan.wordpress.com/2012/11/01/one-more-case-of-misuse-of-section-66-a-of-it-act/

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/suryanelli-rape-crackdown-launched-gainst-facebook-users-in-p-j-kurien-case/1079399/

etc. So far the impact was only within India but now it is crossing borders to take on the global internet.

USA is already resisting Indian IT Act’s overreach:

Good luck in resisting this. Please write to your Congressman.

I noticed that Academic Journals is also on your “Beall’s List.” Does that mean one predatory publisher has copied from another? what next?

From this post is not clear your point of view. In previous posts you usualy criticised such journals. But here text looks like you accepted it. However in the whole history through your different post one question appears. I can understand that when a lot of new journals appear such that it makes easier to publish new ideas is good. The ability of well established journals is limitted and volume of new research is growing, However I cannot understand what is good in new magazine if it just copy and paste existing papers and how such magazine can survive and be useful in future?

People have asked me to be nicer and more objective. I am trying to take their advice. I do have this publisher on my list (just added it after realizing I had forgotten to place it after writing the blog post). If any scholar is considering submitting a article to this publisher or serving on one of their editorial boards, I recommend that they find a better publisher.

Well, Jeff, in my book you are just being truthful and sometimes the truth isn’t “nice.” I’m amazed at what you discover and report on each day, including this story. Keep em coming!

If you want a detailed analysis of the texts, maybe http://de.vroniplag.wikia.com/wiki/Home can help. This is a groups of volunteers that have analyzed many theses and brought to light the cheating of many. Check it out. The webpage is in German, but do not be deterred by that from contacting them. Their English is fine.

I really don’t understand the sense in someone advising you to be nicer and be more objective. Please elucidate. Was there a certain occasion when you weren’t nice and objective? I need to know.

Dear Beall,

Have you noticed that non of the journal has ISSN allocated to it. I want to inform you that there is no contact details in “contact us”. ISSN can never be issued until journal displays the geographical location. Now at some day they will show the location to satisfy the ISSN issuance authority. Its a good chance to catch up.

Dear Eve Douglas, I doubt if there is any strong connection between ISSN and journal contact details? The argument that ISSN can never be issued until journal displays its geographical location is altogether wrong given the prevailing tactics of predatory practice and the ISSN policies of each country. Did you also forget that these guys could provide the ISSN issuer a different contact detail from the one in their website? How stringent is ISSN rules in each country? From a grapevine, I learnt that ISSN is sold in the open market in a certain country. By this, I mean you apply for ISSN assignment with some money. So, in this very case, will the issuer care whether you have a contact detail or not?

Dear Ochuko Tonukari, manipulation and tactics are everywhere in the world, no business is transparent in its spirit, i can bet my words. And, you should know that there are strict policies for ISSN allocation, publishers have to comply those policies. If you are sure with evidence of bribery and monetary benefits in ISSN allocation, let me know, i shall inform the ISSN head office to immediately cancel out the registration of regional ISSN entity. And if you do not have evidence than do not believe on fake news. Remember one thing, believe where you are living, if you feel doubt in everything than one day you shall also doubt in yourself. Live a life full of confidence and surety.

At least we have to give them one thing: they came up with a clever way to solve the duplicate journal name problem. I’m just waiting for Cosmic Research Academic Publishing to launch a whole set of new journals.

Mr. Tonukari, your accusation is serious and has massive ramifications for the publishing world. If the ISSN is in fact involved in such fraud, then please provide the proof, indicating exactly what country you are referring to, the persons responsible, the prices, etc. This information, if true, should be in the public domain. I have my serious criticisms of the ISSN and I believe that they are part of the problem in OA publishing rather than the solution. See my paper on this: http://www.globalsciencebooks.info/JournalsSup/images/2013/AAJPSB_7(SI1)/AAJPSB_7(SI1)76-80o.pdf
I requested the ISSN to provide a complete response to my questions in February, 2013 and I am yet to receive any response almost 4 months later.
