Correct, and the ISSN people do not police titles. In fact, titles are not copyrightable. Still, for a new journal to use a title that is nearly exactly the same as an established title is a questionable practice, I think.

I have analyzed this journal and added it to my list. It promises to do a two-day peer review and uses bogus metrics to promote itself. Dangerous. Please avoid.

Should reputed journals such as Science accept full page color ads from Hindwai? Almost every issue of Science includes a full page ad promoting their publications

I have noted that many journals in the past are dropped from “Science Citation Index Expanded”, but after some time they reactivated again.

http://admin-apps.webofknowledge.com/JCR/JCR?RQ=RECORD&rank=16&journal=SCI+WORLD+J

TSWJ is still on web of knowledge “Thomoson Reuters’s impact factor list”. In above link it has still impact factor 1.219. It may be reactivted again before the new impact factor list, which normally published in July each year. So it is not confirmed, it will lose its impact factor.

Great post!

By the way, I’ve decided that I’m renaming my blog.

It will no longer be called “Neuroskeptic”, it will be “The Scholarly Open Access”.

OMICS has recently high jacked a fast growing African medical journal with the complicity of another Predatory publisher – Ashdin. The Journal “Clinics in Mother and Child Health” was a renown medical journal publishing in Mother and Child health issues and edited from a Central African country – Cameroon.
When you look at the Editorial now it is a big shame that these guys culled people’s pics from the web and grouped them under the banner “The Editorial Board”.
I don’t know where this OMICS is found in this planet, and why they do all these unethical, dishonest disgusted practices and still go unpunished by the scientific community.
Please Jeffrey check and confirm the high jacking of this journal!!!

I think it’s confirmed that it will not have an impact factor for 2014.

Actually, this is not a case of journal hijacking. OMICS purchased the journal from its previous publisher.

Dear Jeffrey Beall
I am a Ph.D scholar from Pakistan. I have a research Article in The Scientific World Journal. There should be one research article of non-zero impact factor for the submission of Ph.D thesis in Pakistan. May I submit my thesis on the basis of above mentioned article before July 2015. Please reply, its a matter of huge concern for me.

Of course, you are free to do whatever you choose.

The journal currently has a 2013 impact factor. My understanding is that it will not have a 2014 impact factor, and Thomson Reuters currently lists it as “dropped.”

So I can submit my Thesis before 2014 or not. They demand 1 paper in a journal having impact factor. Now a days 2013 list is valid, in which it has impact factor.

I think thomas reuter must have a complaint email ID where the person can complain that how comes a journal can reject a paper with in two days which required months of hardwork and research. Isn’t this an excusable that you ruin all that hardwork and typing in the best format just because you don’t like but you must encourage the younger lot. I think there must be separate journals for students and professor and a paper of a student must be reviewed by on professor and one senior student of the respective field

Thanks Jeff for your efforts to expose the scams. Recently, Angelina Johnson, Assistant Editor for Pharmacy & Pharmacology International Journal at MedCrave Group, (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/angelina-johnson/a4/951/a50) sent me a LinkedIn request. Your post makes very good sense. I think it is a fake profile operated from India. I notice that the people who recommend her skills are all from India (most likely fake profiles as well). I declined and blocked/reported her profile to LinkedIn.

Your web article will help the researchers who are smart enough to suspect the scam and search online for information. Please do keep up the work. Unfortunately, the truth is that many of the gullible have fallen for the trap.
