I am unsure about who owns this firm. I am told it’s really based in Pakistan. They are not transparent about ownership. I agree about the nightmare part.

Hi,
I followed the back and forth with MDPI last year, because journals under their umbrella routinely invite me to submit.
I noticed the most recent solicitation was from a journal that used a name almost identical to a respected journal: The Journal of Developmental Biology (MDPI) versus Developmental Biology (Elsevier). It took me a while before I realized I was solicited by the former rather than the latter.
I know MDPI is no longer on your list but the above gave me pause and I wanted to share.
Comment on Appeals by Dr. Bhaiyya
Dear Beall:
Thanks for your continuous efforts to bring out predatory journals and publishers. Recently I received an email from British Journal of Applied Science and Technology inviting to publish paper for 80% discount on US$500.00 I have reviewed the journal website at http://www.sciencedomain.org/journal/5 . I think this requires your review as I understand it is predatory and has provided misleading information in email and on the website such as indexing in different services. Regards.

Beall the name of the publisher is included in your list through people usually check name of a journal in standalone journals list rather than the publisher. This better if you could include the name of the journal for clear visibility. thanks.

Comment on Finnish Man Uses Easy Open-Access Journals to Publish Junk Climate Science by mich filosa
Can anyone name 3 un-“questionable”, non-“predatory” journals that have published articles that either question or deny the “settled science” of climate change?

This is interesting, because it looks like these researchers were, perhaps, fooled by these journals.

The co-authors who are affiliated with Brighton University in the UK have actually published in many real journals, but their collaborator and the first author is affiliated with Nazarbayev University in Kazhakstan. Is this an indication of one bringing the others down?
The quality of the writing here is lacking and some might call this salami slicing.
“Cryogels are macroporous polymeric materials that can be
synthesized by free radical polymerization. Briefly, free
radical polymerization is controlled by the composition of
initiating system in the reaction mixture.”
Nice intro. And,
“Dimethyl sulfoxide K 402 70531 933 and Fluorescein
5(6)-isothio-cyanate, mixed isomers (FITC 90%) from
Sigma, conical flasks, vacuum pump, eppendorf tubes and
glass columns were used.”
Confusing materials section that makes no sense and “overshares”.

I am very sorry that OMICS has made you a victim.
When I list the publisher, this means I recommend that everyone should not submit papers to all the journals from that publisher.
OMICS is based in Hyderabad, India (not in the United States like they claim), and there is no way they can force you to pay, but unfortunately, if they publish your paper you cannot publish it in a good journal.
OMICS International is a degenerate, horrible publisher.

Until NPG comes out with a rice research only publication, I predict that “The Scientific Pages of Rice Research” will not only fill this gaping void, but also became an often copied masterpiece.

Our team has had a paper accepted (not yet made available online) but is now receiving bills but cost was mentioned nowhere on the journal’s (Austin Journal of Nursing and Health Care) website
How can we withdraw our paper. The journal does not respond to our request to withdraw but just keeps sending bills.
HELP!

Austin Publishing Group is a horrible publisher that victimized honest researchers. I am sorry that they have victimized you. They are based in India (I think), and many others have refused to pay, and there has been no action from the publisher in terms of forcing payment. The problem is that if they publish your paper, you cannot publish it with another journal.
