I think that WASET, the World “Academy” of Science, Engineering and Technology is fake, dangerous, and unprofessional. I strongly recommend that researchers not attend their many conferences or submit to their journals.

The second journal is published by Science Signpost Publishing Inc. (SSPub), and I have this publisher on my list also.
I recommend that you do not submit papers to these journals or other journals from the two publishers.

It’s not as black and white as you describe it. After being added to a “reputed society” or database, a journal can turn bad. I often catch and document this long before the major indexes, who are large bureaucracies and often have tens of thousands of journals in their databases.

Still on the subject of F.A. Bajwa… people seem to have taken fright in the last few days, for his LinkedIn and Facebook pages have fled from the scene. And all the Conference Proceedings previously available from agrresearch in the form of PDFs — e.g. for the International Conference on Financial Challenges & Economic Growth (Paris, 29-30 December, 2015) — they too were evanescent, and now they are gone, except in Google Cache.
Soon this comment thread will be the only place left when anyone searches for “Farooq Anwar Bajwa”.
So I will quote his self-penned encomium after all — introducing him as Keynote Speaker at the ICFCEG (and head of the Organizing Committee, there is no end to his activity) —

In fact all of the quaint and entertaining names that populate the Editorial Board appear to be the products of F.A. Bajwa’s productive imagination. I can only suppose that his work at the Imperial College of Business Studies leaves him with a lot of spare time.

I am invited to join their elite board, with the understanding that I must bring them a minimum of five pay-to-publish customers. Still, it is quite an honor to be asked to serve on the Editorial Board of a peer-reviewed science journal, particularly considering my highest degree is a BA in history.

Comment on Oncotarget’s Peer Review is Highly Questionable by Harvey
Its a total scam – they charge ~$2000(?) or something similar to publish an article, and have an awesome editorial board to get good initial articles submitted, then only published a couple of hundred articles in the first year or two. Now they have dramatically increased their output, to thousands of articles a year (basically by accepting almost EVERYTHING), because people were attracted to the high impact factor which was partly a function of the low number of citable items. This year it looks as though they might publish TENS of thousands of articles.
The IF calculations take into account the last 2 years, but this year I think it will dramatically drop, due to the number of citable items in 2015. So people will not find it such an attractive journal any more due to the lower IF, but the publishers won’t care, they’ve made their millions in profit. And they are saying they’re going to split the journal into different sub-journals based on field, so once the Oncotarget IF drops, they’ll be able to say it is due to the splitting into the different journals.

Would have made more sense to send a un-published, fake article to the journal, not something that had already been published elsewhere. I get why the editor calls the authors’ behavior unethical- technically, it is, so the point the author was trying to make would have been stronger if they sent in something that was scigen-like
