I have not presented on a conference recently, but I registered at ResearchGate last Friday and received two spam mails already.
Doesn’t seem likely that it’s just a coincidence…

What is the way forward? . I have read with rapt interest of every week digest. I have seen criticism of OA Journals but I have not seen any suggestion of how best OA Journals should be. I am just suggesting that instead discouraging publishers, we should lay a standard for them to follow. Thanks

You are confusing -either deliberately, because you have an agenda, or through ignorance- the distinction between bona fide and mala fide.

I have this journal's publisher, Excelytics Publishers, included on my list here. I recommend you not send any papers to this publisher's journals.

This is the new name for Bridge Center Publications, a joint Romanian-Indian publisher. It’s journals are rubbish.

Can you send a link so I know exactly which journal you are asking about? There are several journals with similar titles.

Another one from Milena Mihaleva.

I hope this email finds you well. I am an editor at the Internal Medicine Review and came across your paper titled Towards integrative systems pharmacology models in oncology drug development. Firstly thank you for taking the time to publish this, it was an interesting and informative read. I am hoping to have the opportunity to discuss having a short followup or perhaps a review article published in one of the next issues of our journal. I think our readers could be interested in a paper with information from any continued research or new data since this was published.

If you have moved on from this line of research I am certainly interested in knowing more about your current projects, and can put you in touch with my colleague Dr. Donald Combs from our Editorial Board if there is any question about whether or not a topic fits our scope.

Could you please let me know your thoughts on this?

Best Regards,

Milena Mihaleva

Hi,
Great Work, your post saves hard work of millions of researcher.
I usually check your post before submitting my articles to any new or old journals with unknown publishers.
I recently published my review in Current medicinal Chemistry BenthamScience.
http://benthamscience.com/journals/current-medicinal-chemistry/
They are different from other publisher houses in managing their issues. They look genuine but different .I am willing to submit a research article in another journal of Bentham Science- Current Nanoscience. Kindly suggest about this Publisher. How can we avoid predatory journals and what we suppose to look into their website?

Bentham Science is not on my list because it's not an open-access publisher. It and Bentham Open are based in Pakistan. Note that Bentham Open is on my list. Please see the criteria I use here.

Comment on What’s Up with Dr. George Perry? by Retort

Allow me to retort. Road Runner style is not what makes good science. This style may be productive, but not in science. It is great for sure in advertising industry and corporate setting. If you had ever done science personally, you would have known that science requires patience, persistence, contemplation, modesty and constant thinking about details – Yes (!), science is in details. I am fed up with “big picture” guys with no sense for details, running erratically on the surface and often turning out to be bullshit generators. Please note that I do not comment on any specific person, I am just telling you which traits distinguish true scientists from pretenders. So if you say someone is like a Road Runner, I am immediately placing him or her to corporate meetings where he or she can run his or her show and the exploited staff can give standing ovations..

OMICS and others are using Aries resources to spam. That’s the end of story as far as we are concerned.

Comment on Oncotarget’s Peer Review is Highly Questionable by Sandy

I feel disappointed about this journal too. At least at the reviewing process, the manuscript was sent exactly to those people, naming preferred reviewer, for peer-review. I received once but declined. That manuscript was from a lab I knew very well. I can tell the quality of their data simply by reading their abstract, because they used the same idea for more than ten years. They usually publish their results at journals with IF around 2-4. They have published two paper on oncotarget already. The third one, I declined for review, was accepted soon.
