Comment on The Scientific World Journal Will Lose Its Impact Factor — Again by FJM

I have had an excellent experience with this journal (Mathematical Problems in Engineering). Two good reviews. One accepted it, the other was more skeptical. The editor allowed us to answer and finally we convinced the skeptical reviewer. The proofing was very good.
Actually I was going to send the manuscript to a Springer journal but since I received the waive cost, I tried here.
We are slaves of IF, and I tell you that I received ridiculous reviews (and sometimes just 1 review) from journals in the top 10% of the IF. Some of these papers were thereafter accepted in other top 10% journals.
There are journals in Q2 much, much better than many in Q1.

Dear Dr. Beall,

I have seen recently that Journal – “Sustainability” from MDPI, has an increasing impact factor, from ISI / T.Reuters.

How is this possible that being indexed with impact factor and still on this predatory list?

Shall I send my manuscript there or no?

Thanks,

Danniel Brennar (Ph.D. student)

My experience with poor quality images – my own, that is – is that these are rarely identified up front. If problems arise, this is either at review or by production staff, particularly the latter, irrespective which journal is concerned.

I see that Virtus no longer appears in the publisher list? Is there a reason for this?

Thanks

I removed MDPI from my list in October, 2015.
There are some publishers whose journals have impact factors that are on my list. The metric is not necessarily a mark of quality.
Although MDPI is not on my list, I would encourage you to seek a stronger publisher for your work.
MDPI chiefly serves as a place to publish manuscripts that were rejected from stronger publishers.

Hello Everyone, does anyone know anything about Womens’ Health and Gynecology? It is under the organization “Scient Open Access”.

http://scientonline.org/journals/womens-health-gynecology/21

I think I have been scammed. They accepted my manuscript quite quickly. It says they’re located in Canada but always emailed me at 1-3 am EST/my time. They’ve dropped off the earth at this point and I’ve been waiting to hear back from them as I have sent them my corrected galley proof a week ago.

Can someone please confirm for me of this is a scam? I noted after I submitted that there’s a publication fee of 700$

Subject: Followup to Dr. Luttenberger’s article?
Dear Dr. Luttenberger,
I hope this email finds you well. My colleague asked if I could get in touch with you about a paper you authored entitled “From board to bedside – training the communication competences of medical students with role plays”. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to publish this, it was an interesting read. I am hoping to discuss with you having a short follow-up article or perhaps a review article published in one of the next issues of the Medical Research Archives. I think our readers would be interested in a paper with information from any continued research or new data since this was published. It would not have to be a long article, but if you don’t have time for this perhaps you could ask one of your co-authors or students to collaborate or contribute instead.
If you have moved on from your previous research interests I am certainly interested in knowing more about your current projects; perhaps there is the potential for an article that would be published in our journal. If you have any questions about whether or not a certain subject fits our scope I can put you in contact with Dr. Steven Lindheim from our editorial board.
Could you please let me know your thoughts on this?

Sincerely,
Dr. Kateryna Bielka, M. D.
